" Let´s hope we can be so obstinate as to keep believing, against all evidence, that human condition is worth it. Because we are badly made, but we are not finished."
"Ojalá podamos ser tan porfiados para seguir creyendo, contra toda evidencia, que la condición humana vale la pena. Porque hemos sido mal hechos, pero no estamos terminados."
- Eduardo Galeano
You think of violence - I think of truly kind people
You think of drugs - I think of the beauty of its nature
You think of corruption - I think of enduring faith
The first comment of nearly everyone that I told that I was going to Colombia was about drugs or violence. But although due to poverty and growing disparity these are actual problems of Colombia I have never before experienced this amout of kindness that I encountered in this country. In my first month here I have seen an awful lot of poverty. But I have also seen true happiness. I have withnessed the astounding faith that the Colombians have. I have seen people being truly grateful for what little they have. I have seen people committing their whole lives to helping others. I have seen the riches and the true beauty of this country. In these few weeks I have already learned so much from the people living here.
So I want you to reconsider: What do I think of when I think about Colombia?
